Thanksgiving 2009

On Wednesday afternoon Dad & Trish ventured to Apex, NC. We had a great visit. Wednesday evening we relaxed and enjoyed each others company over a big bottle of wine and yummy baked Ziti.

Dad & Carter hanging out before bed time!!

Trish enjoying a glass of wine and peeling potatoes!

Marc & Jolene (thanks for the wine & appetizers) joined us for Thanksgiving on Thursday. We had such beautiful weather we sat outside and enjoyed our meal.

Yummy desserts.... thanks for making this fantastic cake Trish. YUMMY!!

Pecan pie courtesy of ME :-)

Of course Dad and Carter just had to practice their golf swing on such a beautiful day!!

I'm not really sure how it happened -- but, Trish and I ended up shopping on black Friday. We were in Wal-Mart @ 7:30am. Not nearly as crazy as a lot of people I know - crazy none.the.less!

Dad, Josh & Carter ventured out in hunt for a new TV for Dad. I think it wore my little man out. After Dad & Trish left on Friday late afternoon, we all took a nap.

Thanksgiving @ The Lipscomb's

Once again Mike & Marsha pulled it off.... last year the tradition of having all the Lipscomb's at their home began. Year two was just as much of a success as the first. It truly is great being a part of such a warm and loving family.

Having some fun with bocce ball... I'm pretty sure the tape measure was only pulled out a few times!!

Granddaddy & Carter watching from afar.

Of course we had to get a boat ride in -- even though it was COLD on the water!!
Sporting his 1st mate hat... love him.

Aunt Donna & Carter acting silly. Too cute!!

1/2 of the Lipscomb clan......

.... and the other half.

Just love this picture of Kelsey and her Daddy!!

Mini Santa!

Today I met a dear friend for lunch and she came bearing all kinds of GIRL clothes!! I'm talking 8 boxes worth. In the midst of all the pink stood a red Christmas dress that Carter just had to wear. Against Josh's wishes, on it went. Carter ran around the house for a good 15 minutes bringing us gifts - calling himself Santa! Too humiliating not to blog!

Ten on Tuesday!

1) Doing this once a week is WAY too much, or depending on how you look at it, our life is boring. So, I’m aiming for once a month.

2) Life as we know it was turned up-side-down. For those of you that don’t know, Josh has taken a fantastic job with a pharmaceutical company in Greensboro. Josh spends over two hours in the car every day… no fun! The job was too good to turn down, especially in this economy. So… overnight I became a single mom. Meaning getting Carter up, ready and to school (the hardest part on both of us), as well as pick up and dinner every day. I honestly thought it would be much harder on me than it has been. Week one went remarkably well, we are adjusting to the change nicely.

3) The big boy bed is still a work in progress. Josh’s new position has slowed it down a bit. We are hoping Carter is in his new room by the 1st week of December!

4) Once Carter’s new room is done we can focus on the nursery. I’m pretty sure Carter’s nursery was so done by this time with him. Poor little girl is already reaping the effects of child number two.

5) The word WHY is probably Carter’s favorite. I’m convinced he says it just to get my reaction. I’m trying my best to avoid the answer ‘because I said so’. Oh how hard that is!

6) Tis’ the season! Since this is the first Christmas that Carter actually ‘gets’, we are making it our mission to really get into the Christmas spirit this year. We will be pulling out the Christmas decorations in hopes to have them up before my Dad & Trish arrive for Thanksgiving. Last year Carter rc’vd The Elf on the Shelf from Nana & Granddaddy. We will be pulling him out a few weeks before Christmas, not too early though, I wouldn’t want the ‘coolness’ of him to wear off.

7) This little lady of ours sits way higher than Carter, making a trip up the stairs feel like a thirty minute workout. I don’t know how I’m going to make it another 3 ½ months.

8) I’d like to make a huge shout out to Nana… she has come to the rescue. Carter came down with a low grade fever on Sunday evening. I took him to the doctor on Monday morning and she thinks he has some sort of virus. Carter can’t go back to school until he is fever free for 24 hours, so he is spending some quality time with Nana while Josh and I work. THANK YOU NANA!!

9) We’ve had our pictures taken for Christmas cards… I can’t wait to see how they turned out this year!!

10) Off to bed I go… It is late.
