Cambria visits!

We had a special visitor! One of my friends from work brought her little girl over so her and her husband could enjoy a birthday dinner out - alone. We enjoyed having Cambria over and she is welcome back any time. She was an angel.

Remeber when....

.... Kenzie was in her brace?!?

Gosh, looking back, I hardly remember those days. What I remember most:

* The day she got it on she slept through the night.

* Not being able to give her a bath!
* Her wearing the same onesie for days straight, as it was nearly impossible to change her.
* Soaking her for HOURS the day she got it off.

* Being concerned her legs wouldn't straighten out or the indents in her legs wouldn't go away.


All of it being so short term. Look at her now.... 10 1/2 months old and WALKING! We had a follow up at Duke this morning with her Orthopedic Surgeon and he was amazed at just how much and how well she is walking.

He does want to see her back in a year before he releases her from his care - just to assure her left hip falls perfectly into place. It still sits a bit high according to the x-ray. He wants her at 100%.

Walking more than crawling.... look out.

Yup... it is official, Kenzie is walking far more than she is crawling.

I moved to SC to get away from snow! Tell Carter I will not be fishing this week. I can't get to the boat.

Finally Paid Off.

I knew eventually all the practice would pay off.... please don't report me to CPS - Carter has always been more than wiling to help out. Wonder how much that will change over the years - LOL!

Bottles no more!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! As much as I don't want my baby to be growing up so quickly - this is one thing I am NOT sorry to see go. Early September we started weaning Mackenzie off of her two afternoon bottles - it went fairly smoothly. With the exception of a few times, she took to her cup nicely. Her morning one was by totally accident. It was over our Christmas break when she woke us up far earlier than she ever has and bad mommy and daddy hadn't made bottles the night before. Luckily, there was a cup left over from the afternoon prior - so, I gave her that until I could get the formula made. Low and behold, she didn't skip a beat having a cup. So, once the formula was ready - I filled up the cup and away we went with yet another bottle! Well, when it was time for that evenings feeding Josh said - since she wasn't phased by losing her bottle in the morning - why don't we try going with a cup in the evenings, as well. It worked. Not even a fuss. Of course this is far harder on Daddy - as that was his guaranteed snuggle time with his baby girl. Bye bye bottles... I will not miss cleaning you!
