Trick-or-Treating!

Carter was so into Halloween this year! We had a fun filled weekend that obviously started with their parade at school on Friday afternoon. Josh's folks came just in time to see the parade! Though it was quick, Carter was super excited to have his Nana & Granddaddy there. So much so he walked out of the parade to give them a hug! Ms. Stephanie had to bring him back. Too cute!

On Saturday we carved our pumpkin - We made it a family affair; though Josh, Granddaddy & Carter did most of the work. Carter wanted it scary... Josh got it as scary as he could with the tools we had.

Of course we went trick-or-treating on Sunday... Carter had a BLAST! Our neighborhood had a little parade and some snacks before dark.. so, we walked in that then hit the houses for some good stuff. Carter was on a mission! Not sure why, he hasn't touched his candy since Halloween night, and even then I think he only had one bag of Swedish Fish.

Little Miss slept through the parade. Since we couldn't quite buckle her into the stroller - we changed her into her PJs for Trick-or-Treating.

8 months!

I'm still working on something that will freeze time.... no such luck!

To celebrate Mackenzie's 8th month we decided to go to the North Carolina Zoo. Okay, so we actually decided to go since it was a beautiful fall day and they were having Boo in the Zoo. We had a BLAST! We got there shortly after they opened and left when they closed. Click here for all of the fun!!

Mackenzie no longer only has one tooth -- over night, and I'm not kidding when I say that - we went to bed on Friday to only one lower tooth. On Saturday morning (10/23/2010) we felt her gums and she now has FOUR! The other bottom one as well as her two top ones have broken through the gums. I guess this explains all the runny diapers and little rashes on her back. Luckily, they didn't seem to bother her much.

You caught me!

Carter has become Mr. Independent.... in the sad to see it happen kinda way. For a couple of weeks now he has not needed any assistance going to the bathroom. For a while he would at least tell us he is going - now, we don't even get that. He goes, uses the potty, closes the lid, flushes the toilet and even washes his hands like I taught him (even tries to wipe on his own - we still assist with that). This is really the only way we know he just went -- because we will start hearing him sing Happy Birthday to Sponge Bob, twice, while he washes up!

Just a few silly pictures of Carter - he enjoys helping me cook... I cook, he plays!

I have really been working with Carter when it comes to getting himself dressed. He is showing lots of progress. For the most part he can do it all on his own, as long as I remind him how to get his shirt on the right way. If not, it often goes on backwards or even in-side-out. Comical.

For a long time Carter was hesitant about being upstairs while we were down - or down while we were up -- not any more. He will often ask to go watch one of his shows in our bed, or even go to his room to play with his toys up there. It is bittersweet. My little peanut is growing up... too fast.

Enjoying an afternoon snack... cookies & milk.

Oh... and guess what?!?! Little princess has three whole words in her vocabulary now. Not only does she say them - she uses them all in the correct context. Dadda and Babba came about the same time - she would mumble them from time to time and just recently started saying them when she sees her bottle or Daddy. Well, while we were at the zoo she looked right at me and said MOMMA. Josh and Carter even saw and heard it. It melted my heart right into a little puddle.

North Carolina State Fair!

Since Josh and I were both working from home on Monday - due to our late travels home from Southbridge - we decided to pick the kids up early from school and take them to the NC State Fair. Carter had a blast. He really got into all the rides and fun things this year.

When we first arrived Carter saw this really high slide that he just had to get on.. of course there were height restrictions and he just wasn't quite tall enough. Luckily, the smaller slide was right around the corner and he was able to slide... as you can tell from the picture, he really enjoyed himself.

We stopped at the petting zoo.

Had some yummy corn on the cob.... Carter's favorite.

Kenzie enjoyed some puffs!

Took a quick pit stop.

Watching her brother!

Carter fishing.

Josh and Carter riding the FIRE CHIEF.

Kenzie and I just hung out.

No pictures?!

You would think with two kids I would have a post for every day -- somehow, life just gets in the way. I lay awake some nights thinking, I should get my computer out and blog. So much happens... so fast.

I have been not only slack in the bloggin’ department, I have been terrible about taking pictures. Well, let me rephrase that – I have been terrible about getting the pictures off of the camera and onto my computer. I am going to try to be better about not letting them pile up, so when I do go to work on them it isn’t so overwhelming!

I'd say about three months ago I really started working with Mackenzie on her sign language. It was such a huge success with Carter - I wanted to start it right away with Kenzie. About two weeks ago, as dinner time approached, while we were trying all delay tactics to be sure we keep her on her 7pm feeding scheduled little miss broke out the sign for milk. Of course at this age the chance of it being just a coincidence is highly likely; however, it was pretty neat to see her do it. For now we are mainly focusing on milk and more. You can see she is making the connection – so, that is promising at such a young age.

Happy 90th Birthday to my Mémère Julian. I can’t believe she is still rockin’ it. The old lady still takes the stairs like she did 20 years ago. Unfortunately, Alzheimer’s has gotten the best of her memory. We are fortunate that she does still know who we all are, which is refreshing. She will unknowingly ask the same question over and over again. We give her all the details the first time she asks… less and less with each additional time. If nothing else, is makes for a comical phone call. With all this being said, we are heading to MA, all four of us, on a plane, on Friday to enjoy the weekend with the family for some CELEBRATING. I’m wondering if I’m borderline CRAZY, since I’m taking my 3 ½ year old and 7 ½ month old on a plane basically to stay two nights. It is going to be a quick trip – one I couldn’t be more excited for. All of us Julian’s in one small little town – watch out Southbridge…..

The kids and I have settled into a morning routine nicely. Unfortunately, we all have to get up way early in order for me to get both kids settled at school and still arrive at the office by 8am. My new job is…… well, the jury is still out.

Till next time….
