Day 4 and 5 at the Lake

Mommy and Daddy,

Days 4 and 5 at the Lake were lots of fun. Kenzie was in good spirits as always. She practiced rolling over (something she is very good at) and had fun spending time inside laughing and talking with Nana, Donna and Ramie. She did her usual entertainment rotation, someones arms, the floor, the Bumbo chair, the swing, the exersaucer and then back into someones arms. She had two very busy days!!!!! It has been very hot outside but Carter doesn't seem to mind. He and I spent a lot of time together. He helped me shuck corn that we ate for dinner, helped me clean the pool, spent a lot of time in the pool with Lachlan and I, and hit the sandbox in between. Then we had "movie night" and went to bed. Two very full days for all of us. Nana and I are loving every minute with our babies and I think they are having fun too!!!!!

JHS 15 year High School Reunion!

aka drunk fest.

The festivities started on Friday evening for a Durham Bulls game - it was HOT.

After the game a bunch of us headed to a classmates bar - Six Plates Winebar.... awesome! Thanks Matt Beason for having us... it was a blast. Josh and I will for sure be back!

Eric Harvey, Ryan Goldman & myself..... acting all crazy!

Doug House with the ladies.... love me some Courtney.

Saturday night was a TRIP. We started the night off in the hood... yup, we were straighup in downtown Durham.

Class of '95 rocked.

After the festivities in the hood wrapped up we headed to Blue Note to watch Jeremy Bell and Todd Pettit rock it out. Great job guys!

The movies!!

Mommy and Daddy,

Today was a big day. Carter went to see his first movie in a theatre. Nana, Carter, and I went to see "Toy Story 3". The movie was great and so was the little man. He helped me buy the tickets and our many snacks. We discussed some movie etiquette before we went in....(potty before and after but not during, if you need to talk or ask questions you must do so in a whisper). He used his good movie manners, ate about 3 different snacks, drank his water (using the handy dandy cup holder on his seat) and sat quietly, mesmerized by the previews and the movie. Now we grown-ups can use him as an excuse to go see all those cute kids movies.

The girls hung out at home. Kenzie enjoyed her day with Auntie Ramie, eating, sleeping, playing and being spoiled.

A FUN DAY WAS HAD BY ALL!!!!!!

The lake.... again!

It is official - I am spoiled. Yes, I love my kids whole hearted - however, a break is always fantastic. Of course, I miss my babies - that should go without saying. They are in the best hands, so I'm enjoying my time. Josh's folks came and picked up the kids on Friday - to allow us to celebrate my 15 year High School reunion kid free. It was an awesome weekend, so awesome that it qualifies for an entire post all on its own.

Nana & Granddaddy have started a new tradition - movie night.... with sherbet in bed. The first night at the lake they watched, as Carter calls it, The Chomper Dinosaur Movie. Even Kenzie gets to partake... in the movie watching at least.

For Christmas Josh's parents bought Carter a tent in hopes that once Mackenzie arrived he would sleep in it, rather than in the pack-n-play. Well, until this trip that was not happening. He has done really well with it. He has his friends and even a flash light. My little guy is growing up!

12 weeks!

I took Kenzie for her 4 month well visit today.....

Weight: 15lbs 5oz - 85%
Height: 25.5 inches - 90%
Head: 16 - 40%

She is growing nicely. Mackenzie rc'vd three vaccinations - two shots and one oral. She was a trooper, only cried for a second. Her eyes are a deep green and her doctor seems to think they will stay that way - lets hope!! Dr. McBride didn't push on her leg hard, as she didn't want to mess with her hip. However, she did say what she was able to feel felt really good. So, hopefully in July we'll get the green light with her hip.

Yesterday she decided she wanted to start rolling over. At first she found it easier to go from her back to her stomach - but, by the end of the day she was rolling back & forth. We'll be putting up baby gates before you know it.

Father's Day!

We had a fantastic Father's Day weekend... I'm pretty sure Josh would even agree ;-)

Dad and Trish came in on Saturday early afternoon and spent the night with us. We had a great dinner on Saturday night and an even more yummy breakfast on Sunday. Most importantly, we were all together and had a great visit.

You can find all the pictures by clicking here.

Silly bandz!

Silly Bandz: fun bracelets that come in lots of shapes and sizes.

Apparently these things are all the rage.... I had no idea it would start at the age of THREE! You got it - Carter came home with his first Silly Band today.

Kenzie likes to hang out with Carter while he has dinner.... before long she'll be eating food too. She has her 4 month check up next Thursday - so, we'll see what her pediatrician says about starting rice cereal.

Already?!

Gosh, June is already 1/2 over. 2010 is flying by!

Kenzie has been laughing.... like really laughing when you tickle her. It is super cute. I have been trying to get it on video... no such luck though.

Carter has been afraid of Kirby the last couple of weeks.... yes, the dog we have had his entire life. I'm hoping it is just a phase... and a very short one!

Other than that I don't really have any updates.... but, I didn't want to let too much time go by without a quick post to at least show off some pictures.....

Kenzie and her bubbles.... still no teeth, just a lot of drool.

I know I've said this several times before.... but, Carter really is a good big brother. He is always so anxious to teach Kenzie new things! She already idolizes him.

She looks scared to death.... not exactly sure why?! Her shirt sure does hold true though... She will always be Daddy's little girl. What a special bond they have already.

Still trying to find her thumb..... to no avail.

I just could not resist this picture... Josh was talking to his mom on the phone and walking around outside with Kenzie - I guess she found the conversation to be pretty boring.... teehee!!

Mackenzie absolutely loves her ExcerSaucer! And you guessed right, Carter is first in line to show her how to use all the gadgets! We don't have to do a thing, he takes right over.

Josh, Carter & Kenzie in an action shot giving a family kiss! I love family kisses.

Really lady... no more pictures, please!!

So peaceful.

I took these pictures today after Kenzie had a nice warm bath.... she looks so grown up. It is going by far to fast. Knowing this is it, I'm trying to soak it all up. Unfortunately, I feel like I blink and another month passes.

This picture just happened to fall into my lap.... literally. She was sitting up and just plopped over. Perfect.

Carter's tomato plant!

Mommy and Daddy,

Please tell Farmer Carter that his tomato plant is really growing. He did a very good job and we should have some cherry tomatoes soon!

Love you,

Nana and Granddaddy

Finally!

All of Mackenzie's announcements have finally been mailed.... Enjoy!

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

Ten on Tuesday.

1) Please accept my apologizes for my lack of blogging. Honestly, the entire month of May is a blur. It was a very exhausting way to start our summer. We always go... go... go... over the hot months, it just doesn't usually start off so crazy! I'm hoping June won't be so crazy - therefore, I should be able to keep up with my blog a bit. Click here for some fun May pictures!

2) Carter went for his three year old well visit last week. He is a healthy little boy - his doctor had nothing but wonderful things to say about his personality and demeanor. She told us to keep up the good work. It was refreshing to hear, as parents you just never know if what you are doing is working!

Stats: (click here for last years stats)
June 1st, 2010
Weight: 29.5 lbs - 25%
Length: 37 3/4 - 50%
BMI: 14.5 - 10%

3) Mackenzie is really starting to grasp cause and effect. She lays on her activity mat and hits just about every rattle she can reach.

4) Memorial Day weekend was a fun one.... we were lucky enough to be home for the long weekend - it felt GREAT. On Saturday we broke out the slip-n-slide - I'm still not sure who had more fun... Josh or Carter?!? Sunday was a fun day at a local lake. Our neighborhood had a BBQ - it was a hot, fun-filled afternoon.

5) Kenzie is holding her head up so well lately we decided to break out the bumbo - she LOVES it. I wish we would have tried it out a bit sooner.

6) Carter and Josh have spent lots of time working in the yard. It is a work in progress, but I think Josh is finally starting to feel like he is making some headway with it.

7) Little Miss is on a pretty good schedule. She eats about 7oz every 4 hours during the day - 7am, 11am, 3pm and 7pm. Her evening feeding will often consist of 8 - 9oz, I guess she knows she needs to fill up for the night. Both her and Carter are always in bed and sleeping by 8pm. One thing I learned early on with Carter - kids thrive off of a routine. I have learned over the last three years that you don't need to be as rigid as I had originally thought - just as long as you stay as consistent as possible. Her daytime naps are still a work in progress; I'm not stressing over them too much - since she has been sleeping through the night since she was 5 weeks old - we can't complain!

8) Mackenzie is a lot like me - she does NOT like to be hot. We know that if she is crying and is not hungry or tired - she is hot. So, she often hangs around the house in all of her glory!

9) Kenzie talks..... all the time! Okay, technically it is cooing - but, it is non stop! I'm convinced her and Carter hold conversations from time to time. Carter continues to be a great big brother. He adores his little sister and seems to be anxious to teach her everything!

10) It was soooo hot this weekend we ended up at Target on Saturday afternoon to buy Carter a new pool. He picked out the one with the slide and basketball hoop. Of course it took forever to get it all set up - but, once it was he was hooked!
