All boy!

Text msg rc’vd from Carter’s teacher (3:48pm)…

Dawn: Hey Melissa, how are you doing? Today, Carter had a “creative” that I wanted to be sure to share with you. For lunch today we had ravioli and one of the kids really enjoyed their lunch. While I was busy cleaning her up (Jessica was changing someone’s diaper) Carter seized the moment and decided that he was done eating his lunch and now ready to play with it! I went to him and reminded him that we eat our lunch and not play with it. I then noticed that he had an ear full of green beans! I did my best to get it all out, but I though you may want to check tonight to make sure it is all clear. It is his right ear. What a boy!

Me: Do you think I should take him to the doctor? Do you think it went in his ear canal?

Dawn: I think any that may still be in there would come out in the tub. But, I’m a mother of three. I probably would have gone with my first, but definitely not with my second… I know, not much help.

Me: Will give good bath tonight. If it seems to bother him tomorrow, I’ll take him.

Dawn: I’m really sorry this happened – the little guy is quick and very quite when he is up to no good.

Bath time…..

Carter tells me about 5 minutes into his bath that he has to go poopies… so, I stick the kid on the toilet. Not thinking he is going to PEE all over me… YUP, square in the face! I thought those days were OVER. I thought he had to go POOP?!? Anyhow… back in the tub we went. 5 minutes later… again. Of course I’m thinking, this is nuts. But, it is part of the potty training fun! Back to the potty we go… this time, I remind him to poke ‘it’ down, sure enough, he pee’s again in the potty – this time he emptied his bladder – I think I scared him the first time. Way to go. Such a big boy!! No sign of green beans... all is well.

BLOCKS!

I met one of my dearest friends for lunch today and she came bearing a belated birthday gift for Carter. He loves his new ABC building blocks. He likes to build them as high as he can -- and knock them over!

Thanks so much Eric, Deb & Noah.... we love you!

What a weekend... with no camera!

Auggghhh... I'm so mad that we had such a wonderful weekend and forgot the camera every where we went. Thank goodness for the camera on our cell phones!

Friday evening was the breast cancer fundraising event at Zely & Ritz. It was a wonderful event. My dearest friend Jolene did a wonderful job. As soon as I receive some pictures from Brook, I'll post. Until then, enjoy the ones from Josh's cell.

On Saturday we headed to The Sioss' for Brennan's 2nd Birthday Party!! We had a blast. Carter enjoyed playing in the pool and bouncing in the bounce house with all of his friends. It was a hot day - luckily Natasha had yummy strawberry (with fresh strawberries) margaritas to keep us adults cool. Thanks for the pictures Natasha!!

Sunday morning Mom, Josh, Carter and I headed to Carolina Beach to spend some time with my family. We had a FANTASTIC time. Carter enjoyed playing with all of his new beach toys from Mem & Pep. I don't think my Dad took his eyes off of that kid. They played together all day long. Carter and my Mom enjoyed a few walks on the beach. Carter even got to stick his toes in the very cold water with Auntie Gail & Uncle Paul. Uncle Ken and crew joined us.... of course Sam & Jag barely stopped for kisses before they had their surf boards in the water. Hard to believe they are going to be 10 in August. Auntie Gail took tons of pictures, as soon as she gets home I'll have her send me some so I can add to the post!!

The ride home was not exactly how we wanted to end our wonderful weekend. Honestly, it was one of the scariest experiences of my life. To keep it short, God was watching us, along with a lot of others this weekend on I-40. Out of nowhere this car comes from the East bound lane at full speed across the median into the West bound lane straight towards us- Josh and I saw it coming a split second before the impact, Josh's quick thinking probably saved our lives. Josh quickly swerved and we avoided the oncoming car by about 2 feet. Unfortunately, the car directly beside us was unable to avoid it and T-boned the oncoming car at 75 mph then immediately burst into flames. The impact was so close to us and so hard that we felt the concussion in our car. Thankfully, Victoria (who was driving the car beside us) was a smart young lady and climbed out of her T-top as soon as she noticed her car was on fire. Josh got to her as quickly as he could. He checked under the air bags and in the back seat to assure there were no other passengers. Of course I'm freaking out... watching him reach into a burning car. Thankfully, she was alone. We comforted her and many others along side of the freeway - it seemed like forever before the fire truck & EMS showed up. We watched Victoria's car burn to the ground. What a scary site.

The driver of the other car seemed to have been okay, as well. Of course both him and Victoria were taken to the ER. My mom spoke with Victoria tonight and she is doing well. She managed to escape this with a scrapped knee and sprained wrist. One lucky girl, if you ask me. She was very thankful to Josh and my Mom for all they did to keep her safe.

24 month well visit

Carter had his 24 month well check up on Wednesday morning.
Dr. Bell gave him a clean bill of health.

April 15th, 2009
90% Height - 35 1/2
25% Weight - 25lbs 14oz
25% Head circumference 48

The doctor was very impressed with Carter's vocabulary. He did tell us it was about time to start working on 'losing' his paci. We are hoping since he only gets his 'na night' in his crib at night time we won't have too much trouble. We'll be heading to Build a Bear next weekend... thanks for the idea Susan. Wish us luck.

I rc'vd the below picture from his teacher last week... looks like Carter forgot to use the paper! Crazy kid.

We had a beautiful Easter weekend and were fortunate enough to be surrounded my family and friends. That being said... we took lots of pictures. Click here to see them all.

They are back....

We sent the kitties to my moms house while we had our townhouse on the market. With everything going on - we waited until last week to get them. They seem to be adjusting well. I think I see them more now than I did at the townhouse.

Chloe hid in Carter's play room the first few evenings.

She really enjoys Carter's beanbag.

Lexi is still a bit skittish - and mostly hides behind the couch. Once she starts to venture out, I'll snap a picture!

Thanks again Mom -- we really appreciate you taking such good care of the girls. Love ya!

Welcome to Spring!

This weekend was a beautiful weekend in NC. Friday evening Carter and I walked around and took pictures of some of the flowers that are blooming in our yard.

We enjoyed the outdoors on Saturday by venturing to the park with The Sioss Family.

After the park we had a BBQ at their place. The Teague's joined us for some outdoor fun.

Nana & Granddaddy joined us late afternoon on Sunday. We ventured to Two Guys for dinner, as that is Granddaddy's all-time favorite. We returned home just in time for the ice cream truck. Carter was so excited. This was the 1st time Carter experienced the ice cream man!

Two days in a row!

Carter pee'd on the potty again. Picture courtesy of his teacher - she asked first!

This is NO April Fools joke!

Carter pee'd in the potty at school today! Yay Carter! Such a big boy.

We spotted this little red lizard outside this evening. I had never seen anything like it... so, I rushed in for the camera.

For those of you anxious to see pictures of the big birthday bash -- I'm working on them... all 700 of them. That is what I get for leaving my dear friend Jolene in charge of the photography.
