The weekend after Thanksgiving

So, on Friday morning Josh gets a phone call from his Mom that apparently went something like this.

"Nana" Hi hon, it is your mom. How is your visit with Melissa's parents going?
"Josh" Good Thanks.
"Nana" How do you feel about your Dad and I coming for a visit?
"Josh" Sure Mom, when are you thinking?
"Nana" Now?
"Josh" Like today, leaving SC now??
"Nana" Yeah.... Why don't you run that by Melissa and call us back?

So, of course Josh tells me the story after he gets off the phone.... my first thought is -- didn't we just see them three days ago?!? Of course since there were soooo many people at the house, Nana & Granddaddy didn't feel they got to spend enough time with Carter man, and really missed him. So.... they were coming for the weekend. My only request was NO TURKEY! So, they arrived Friday late afternoon and off for Mexican we went.

Of course Nana couldn't come without bringing ALL of the Matchbox cars with her. After dinner we all go comfy and Nana, Granddaddy & Carter played!!

On Saturday we just hung out and relaxed. Of course a trip to our house for Nana & Granddaddy must involve eating Two Guys. So, that is what we had for dinner on Saturday. YUMMY!!

Here is Nana & Carter at it again on Saturday with the cars.

I think Nana & Granddaddy got to spend some great quality time with Carter. We had a nice quite weekend just visiting.

Happy 20 months Carter!

Today Carter is officially 20 months old. It is really hard to believe two is right around the corner! Gosh, how time has flown by. I know most are anxiously awaiting a Turkey Day blog - or two... stay tuned. I've got a TON of pictures to go through. I just wanted to drop a quick line and say Happy Birthday to my little peanut. Hugs to everyone.

Thanksgiving with The Julian's...

.... all 5 of us. Though, by the size of the Turkey Dad & Trish brought you would have thought we were feeding an Army. 22 lbs... yeah, for 4 adults and 1 toddler. What the heck were you thinking Dad?

Carter absolutely loved it when Pepe would sing Three Little Fishes. Of course I have since tried to sing it to him, but I don't know all the words. How that is possible, I'm not sure - Dad sang that to me all the time growing up.

More please Pepe!

Meme and Carter enjoyed a morning snack of Cheerios's before getting ready for the day!

Of course those of you that know Dad - he just couldn't leave home without his golf clubs. Here he is hitting balls into our lake. Silly man!

I'm not 100% sure what Carter was doing in this shot - but, I thought it was too cute not to post. Looks as though he is giving me a big kiss.... right!!

The fam sitting down for the feast.....

Sweet.... who can tell that Dad took this picture?!? Sorry Josh!

Carter & Pepe holding hands during our after lunch walk. Perfect.

Thanksgiving with the Lipscomb's....

..... all 16 of them! Yup, you read correctly, Marsha & Mike had the whole crew in for Thanksgiving this year. We had so much fun. Sorry it has taken me so long to blog, Josh took over 350 pictures in a weeks time. Augggghhh!!

So, who is having more fun here -- Josh, Uncle Matt or Carter?!?! Please note these are Matchbox cars from Josh's childhood. Marsha saved them all these years, now Carter can enjoy them. Totally awesome!! Thanks Nana.

Knuckle bump Auntie Ramie :-)

What would a trip to the lake be with out sitting on the boat with Granddaddy listening to music. Oh, and don't forget the Cheerios.

Here's Bonnie & I getting ready for our daily walk. Donna joined too... it was the only way to burn off all the calories from all the food we consumed. I think we should have walked several times a day!

Papaw and Carter reading the new book Auntie Ramie gave him.... hey guys, Christmas is right around the corner. Can't the gifts wait?!?! LOL!

Here is the 1st table full of crazy Lipscomb's getting ready to eat our Thanksgiving lunch. Marsha, think you've got enough food on your plate... heehee... she is sitting in Josh's spot!

and here is the rest of the crew.... where is Carter you ask?!? Well, he slept through most of the lunch. He woke up just in time for dessert.

Nana & Carter relaxing after a big meal.

Uncle Rocky & Papaw fishing.... If I remember correctly, during the three days we were there they did not catch a single fish. Regardless, they had a ton of fun. It was great to see all the smiles over the long weekend.

Carter's rash is just about gone. He face is totally cleared up, and his arms and legs are finally looking normal again. Yippee! Let's hope he never gets this again :-)

Obsession?!?

So, is it considered obsessed when your kid has to get into the bin and have access to all of his books?!? WEIRD if you ask me!! Fun none-the-less.

Here he goes again with the book reading... must be a weekly book fav.

Back in the bucket!

Over a year ago, Carter fit perfectly in this little bucket. Even though he doesn't quite fit anymore -- he gets in it anyway. Crazy kid.

Simply put...

CARTER LOVES TO READ!

On Monday evening Carter picked out his favorite book (it changes daily) and climbed up onto the love seat and started reading to himself. It was the cutest thing. He actually says bah bah black sheet... have you any wool. My little peanut is growing up. Gosh, I think I'm getting teary eyed writing this!

Visiting Timberlake

On Saturday afternoon we finally made it out to visit The People's... they recently bought a new house out in Timberlake... aka BFE!

Little Miss Janae relaxing on the sofa. She was a bit under the weather -- she is getting new teeth. Poor little thing.

Madison, Jason & Carter dancin' the night away....

Madison was so sweet, she read Carter the whole Elmo book over and over again!

I think the corn on the cob was the highlight of Carter's evening -- he loves him some corn. Silly boy!

Thanks for having us over. We had a blast.

Carter's Mysterious Rash

After visiting two different doctors offices (one visit consisting of 2 different doctors inspecting Carter's rash) - they diagnosed it as Papular Acrodermatitis also known as Gianotti-Crosti Syndrome - sounds way worse than it is. Get this, when I was about 9 years old I had the SAME thing. Weird. Mom said it took about 10 different doctors to figure it out all those years ago. Apparently it goes away just as quickly as it appeared (usually after 4 weeks). The doctors assured me it is not contagious, and Carter is okay to attend daycare, etc.

Yates Mill County Park - Raleigh, NC

Once the clouds cleared on Saturday morning we decided to head to Yates Mill County Park. The trees are beautiful right now, so we thought it was the perfect opportunity for some nice pictures. Here are a few....

It is happening....

Carter's 2 year old molars are finally popping through (top left to be exact)... I say finally because over the course of the last few weeks he has kept us on our toes with his mood swings. We were even beginning to think he may be starting with his terrible two's! Which of course could certainly still be possible -- but, for now we are chalking it up to TEETH!! Let's hope that once these 4 come through we have a bit of sanity.

Here are a few cute shots I took of Carter playing with his trucks before bedtime last night. We are thinking the little rash on his face has something to do with his new teeth?!

Did you VOTE?!?

I did... first thing this morning! I tried to early vote several times on Friday of last week - but, the line was WAY to long every time I drove by. I'm looking forward to watching the polls this evening.

WHO WILL BE OUR NEXT PRESIDENT?!?
