Ryan update...
Mary-Charles spoke with Ryan last night and the night before. He's doing pretty well. He says it's beautiful but REALLY hot and humid! His orders are for three months... which is less time than originally expected. Of course things can change, but we are all hoping for the best. Ryan, if you are reading this - we are thinking of you. Do whatcha gotta do, and get home safe! Miss ya!

Our little monkey!
Just a quick post before I go to work -- this morning after breakfast Josh, as always, took Carter out of his highchair. The normal routine consist of now getting teeth brushed, well Carter hasn't been too fond of this task lately - so, today he decided to climb back into his highchair. YES, he did this all by himself, then proceeds to say "stuck, stuck"... Josh couldn't resist taking this shot...

Crazy kid
Tonight Carter had a few Kodak moments - I couldn't resit posting them all. You can also find additional pictures in the September folder on Picasa.
I'm not exactly sure how Carter ended up with Josh's shirt on - but, he sure does look cute in it. These pics are for you Tom - hope all is well in New York! We miss you guys!
A few weeks ago Carter discovered the spare room - all kinds of stuff he shouldn't get into!! Here he has a Christmas ornament that was left behind last year... as well as a picture of Josh's grandparents. He'll dance to the tunes of the ornament while singing MiMi... Papaw.... MiMi... Papaw!

After playing dress-up (is it okay for boys to do that?!?) it was bath time. Josh asked Carter where the penguin was - and low and behold he showed me the penguin. Nana will be pleased to know the penguins will be passed on... LOL!
What does the duck say Carter -- "Quack, Quack".
A quick little stroll in our PJ's before na-night time. Bye-bye Mommy!

A quick one...
Here are just a few cute shots of Carter eating a hamburger bun on the stairs... I guess it was his afternoon snack! He ate the whole darn thing, with the exception of the chunk Kirby managed to grab... which Carter was none to thrilled with. No! No! Mine!
I think this was just about when Kirby got a bite...
He wasn't very happy with Kirby at this point!
He cheered up pretty quickly once he realized he still had quite a bit of his bread left.... he thought it was silly to show me each and every bite! Crazy little man!

Is it really time??
Well, as it stands now Ryan is scheduled to leave for Cuba tomorrow.... here are a few shots of Carter helping Ryan pack up his car yesterday after we enjoyed some yummy Goodberry's! Ryan -- you will be missed. We will be thinking of you daily, and wish you a safe return home!!
Heck with the wagon -- seems as though he prefers the suitcase!!
Can it be?!?

What a weekend.... long post!
On Friday evening Josh and I went to see Dark Knight at the IMAX theater in Raleigh with some friends. Carter and grandma had an evening together. Unfortunately for Grandma, there wasn't much playing involved. Poor Carter is getting his two year old molars - and they are very painful. I'd say the most painful of all... my little peanut was just not himself all weekend. At the most, he has had one full meal in 2 1/2 days....
Here's Carter playing with his trucks just before Grandma arrived!
On Saturday morning we just hung out at the house, relaxed and snuggled on the couch. Carter was very clingy - so, we know for sure he was in pain. Thank goodness for baby Tylenol!! A dose of that and he was ready to go... off we went to Rick & Jen's for yet another fabulous dinner!!
Carter & Harrison had a blast playing toss on the couch.... they always have a great time together!
It is clear in this picture that Rick has for sure done this before....
Kamakazi Shooter - YUMMY!!
Recipe: 1 oz. Vodka 1/2 oz. Triple Sec Splash of Lime Juice
Of course Sunday's always consist of Football watching at our place, this week Rob, Natasha & Brennan joined us - and for the most part we had a great time. By late Sunday evening Carter was not interested in playing nice, in all honesty he was down right evil. I'll be shocked if Brennan ever wants to step foot into our house again.
As you can see from this picture, Carter clearly still does not feel well. We changed his shirt twice he was drooling so much. I can't wait for these teeth to make their grand appearance!!
Brennan & Carter playing well together - sharing blocks, and having a good ol' time. Even Natasha joined in on the fun!! Of course Carter asked her to make a big truck -- which never happened! Instead she made a Russian space station - how creative!!
Keep in mind when you look at the next few pictures - this was after the incident -- Brennan is actually okay in arms distance from Carter. I know - you are all wondering what this crazy kid of mine was up to..... well, too keep it as brief as possible, not only did Carter whack Brennan in the head once with a big long pink mixing spoon - he did it several times. The first time, I took him right upstairs for his minute long timeout. We came down stairs, apologized to Brennan, even gave hugs and kisses.... only to turn around 3 seconds later to do it again - this time he whacked him a few good times (right on the head) before Josh could get to him. Josh's quick thinking led Carter to his normal timeout spot - in front of everyone. That seemed to do the trick! I was mortified, to say the least. Poor Brenna was bawling (who wouldn't have been).... I cried too! My little peanut will NOT be the bully kid. I am praying that this was an isolated incident.... I really want to chalk it up to his teeth hurting, an empty stomach, and very little sleep! Brennan, I hope one day you and Carter can laugh about this! Hugs to you little man!
Here they are - again playing well with each other (props to Brennan, if it were me -I wouldn't have gotten in arms reach of that evil child). They even put these little Frisbee's on each other has hats!
Tuc-tuc giving Carter a big wet slobbery kiss!!
Under the hammock - just being silly!
I just adore this picture - thanks for helping me figure out this complex camera Natasha!!

It's POTTY time!
We are a bit premature according to all the books - however, Carter seems to consistently tell us when he has to poop. So, I thought I'd get a potty and see where it takes us. Sunday evening he kept saying pee-pee so we decided to put him on the potty. He was interested in sitting on it before we could get his clothes off! Once the diaper came off - all he wanted to do was run around NAKIE!! Crazy kid!

Happy 1st Birthday Janae!!
On Sunday afternoon we celebrated Janae's 1st Birthday at The Pickett's. Carter was the ONLY boy... tons of little girls!
Janae trying to blow out her one and only candle... luckily, she had some help!!
Little Emily (Janae's cousin) she'll be ONE in just a few weeks!!
Please, someone tell me this bag doesn't have clothes in it too!!
Emily doesn't miss a meal... or a snack... heck, any opportunity to EAT!!
Chunky monkey!
Madison (Janae's big sister) is reading to Josh.... Carter too!
Though, he seems too busy playing with the balloon!

WVU vs ECU
On Saturday (ignoring hurricane Hanna headed our way) Josh and I went to the WVU vs ECU game in Greenville, NC. We had a blast - however; the outcome of the game was a disaster. I'm convinced Carter could have played better football at 17 months....

BTW - I'm not sure there was enough alcohol to drowned Josh's sorrows!!

Snack time!
Before we left for the game on Saturday we hung out with Josh's folks.... thanks for babysitting Nana & Granddaddy!
Carter pulled the chair up to the coffee table - this way he could sit while enjoying his cheeze-its!!
Decked out in his WVU gear -- go eers!!
Nana taught him this new trick - apparently, he spent quite a lot of time unloading and reloading his toy bucket!
Check out this magazine Mom - it has all kinds of neat stuff in it!!
Looks like he has picked out his Christmas gifts!
